As much as I love fall, I absolutely adore the holidays! And we finally made it to the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is only 13 days away, and I have seen more Christmas movies in the last week than I did all of last year… But I couldn’t help it; Netflix came out with some really good ones this year.

Plus, there’s nothing better after a long day than lighting Christmas candles and wearing Christmas PJs while watching Lindsay Lohan and Ezra Fitz from Pretty Little Liars awkwardly spend the holidays together after finding out both of their new significant others are siblings in Our Little Secret! Awkward…

Well, there might be one thing that would make that better, and it’s having the entire apartment decorated for the holidays. So that’s what I spent all my free time doing and I am now filled with so much joy every time I walk down the stairs. Let’s do a run-through, shall we?

I also made a whole YouTube video bringing you along with me as I decorated, so I’ll add that below as well!

Bigger Home = Bigger Tree

Moving to a bigger apartment means needing a bigger Christmas tree. The one I had in my last two apartments was way too small for our new space, so I spent a couple of days researching—and by researching, I mean searching on TikTok—trying to find a good tree.

I was definitely overwhelmed with the idea of finding one after seeing everyone talk about a billion different styles and nearly all of them being sold out. The one that kept coming up was the Grand Duchess from Home Depot, but it was about five to six hundred dollars, which is insane! It was also weirdly sold out literally everywhere, so I was on the hunt for the perfect dupe.

One of the cheaper dupes that I found was sold at the store called At Home, and even though it was about 45 minutes from where I live, the drive was well worth it.

I was nervous that it would be sold out, so I immediately ran straight to the tree section and there were only two left! I could not believe that I had found it! I picked the Bradley Spruce Tree, it’s seven and a half feet tall (the in-store code is B5), and it has a twinkling light setting (+7 other lighting settings). Paired with this woven tree collar, it’s perfection.

Growing up, my family and I would set aside a weekend near Christmas and decorate our tree together, it was one of my favorite days of the entire year. And since this is my first Christmas living with my boyfriend, I knew I wanted us to do the same!

We finally decorated it the other day (click here to watch the TikTok) and it looks so good! I’ll link all of our ornaments here!

The only thing I was struggling with was finding a tree topper that I really liked, but I was running around Target the other day and found this gold one! So cute!

Picking the Right Ornaments

We all know I love a neutral Christmas decor aesthetic, so I knew I wanted to decorate the tree with brown, gold, and cream ornaments. Since we got a bigger tree, I knew I was going to need more ornaments so I took a quick trip to Marshall’s and Michael’s and scored the jackpot!

First and foremost, velvet ornaments are having their moment this year, and I was searching everywhere for them. The ones I liked were either already sold out, or super expensive. That was until I walked into Michael’s and found six and eight packs for $6! I couldn’t believe it. I picked up many boxes, mainly in cream. but also one in bronze (pictured above). I also stopped by Marshall’s and found adorable white house ornaments that light up from the inside! I fell in love with these (pictured above) and tried to link them for you, but they’re not sold online. However, the brand is Papyrus!

The Fireplace

I decorated and redecorated the fireplace multiple times, but ultimately went with the most minimal version. In this version, I removed the stocking holders because I felt like it made the mantle look a little cluttered and stuck thin command hooks underneath the garland to hide them. And just in case the command strips decided to damage the stone, I stuck them on top of a piece of green painter’s tape so all I have to do is rip the tape off! I also added cute little flickering lights with some pine cone picks from Hobby Lobby, then finished off the corner with some bells and a cute little bow!

Coffee Table Details

I already have faux greenery on my coffee table year-round, so I got some fake pine branches to switch it out with and I’m surprised at the quality. It was an Amazon find, so I didn’t have the most faith, but I like that they’re floppy as opposed to stiff branches.

Note that in natural lighting and mood lighting, the branches look amazing but they appear a little shiny under fluorescent lighting! I love it though!

I finished up the table decor with some coffee table books, mini trees, and voilà!

Now that the decorations are up, this is the coziest our home has ever felt. There’s something magical about turning on the tree lights when the sun goes down (even though it’s only 4:00 pm, thanks to Daylight Savings) and curling up on the couch while feeling the warmth from the fireplace. It truly is the little things that bring me the most joy.

If you’re decorating on a budget like I was (after the Christmas tree drained the budget I had for this year’s decor), don’t underestimate the magic of stores like Home Goods, TJMaxx, and even thrift stores. You never know what you’ll find! Speaking of, next week’s YouTube video brings you holiday home decor shopping with me, and we’re hitting up all the best stores. So I’ll add it below once it’s out, but until then, go catch up on my other videos here!

Now that our apartment is officially holiday-ready, I’m planning to make the most of these next few weeks by soaking up every moment (and hopefully checking more things off my holiday bucket list). From holiday baking to cozy movie nights, I’m so excited!!
