Coffee table decor is my Pinterest search of choice. Once I start going down that rabbit hole, there is no going back — I could be there for hours. It’s so fun to see all the different styles and the fun accessories you can add. I didn’t realize how expensive a nicely decorated coffee table could be, but I quickly learned when I moved out last year. Since then, I’ve just been collecting new pieces and mixing and matching them. I decided to go with a pink and beige theme (just like everything else in my apartment) and love how it turned out!

Here’s where everything is from!

5 Coffee Table Decor Must-Haves

1. Coffee Table

We obviously have to pick a table before we figure out the coffee table decor. I was lucky to find mine on Facebook Marketplace, so take a peek there first. Otherwise, you may have to dish out more money than you’d like. Coffee tables are EXPENSIVE. But some of my favorite stores are West Elm, CB2, and Wayfair.

& these are some of my dream tables; consider this list my form of manifestation:
Willy White Pedestal Coffee Table
Monti Lava Stone Coffee Table
Fluted Coffee Table
Vernet Oval Travertine Coffee Table

2. Coffee Table Books

The most important component of a good coffee table decor setup is an aesthetic stack of books. It’s clear I gravitate towards pink ones, but any color would do. Just make sure they’re in the same color family and slightly vary in size!

I always have my eye out for cute books when I’m out and about (bonus points if it’s a travel book I got on a trip), but there are tons of good options on Amazon. I also love looking through the book displays at Urban Outfitters and Paper Source — they both have some fun options!

The most popular type of coffee table book people gravitate towards is home decor. I get it; the book covers are always very aesthetically pleasing, but they’re also pretty boring. I like adding some fun options to the mix!

My current coffee table has:
Kate Spade New York: All In Good Taste
Justin Bieber: Just Getting Started
The Mixology of Astrology
Home Therapy
The Weekender Portland

3. Candles

Candles are pretty and smell good; talk about the perfect decor! Depending on the table you’re working with, you could opt for a big candle as the centerpiece or a few smaller ones (like I did). If you go the small candle route, I like to place smaller candles on top of the books so they don’t get lost on the tabletop.

My current favorite candles, from smallest to largest:
— Venus Et Fleur Mini Rose Blanche
Maison Margiela Matcha Meditation (all their scents are amazing!)
NEST New York Holiday (I burn this year round because it smells so good)
Voluspa Santal Vanille

4. Candle-Adjacent Accessories

To light said candles, you need fire—matches, lighters, etc. So you might as well make it part of the decor!

Some fun choices:
— Matchbooks (you can grab these from most restaurants; they’re fun to collect)
— Aesthetic match holders (I currently have my eyes on this one from Anthropologie, as well as this adorable cowboy boot holder!)
Candle snuffer & wick trimmer set
Rechargable Electric Lighter
— You could also get a cute tray to put said candles on top of (like this!)

5. Other Accessories

Books, candles, and matches/lighters are crucial since they will take up most of the coffee table, but the rest is up to you! Fill in the gaps with smaller accessories. Anything is fair game.

— Small point-and-shoot cameras (I found my old pink one, and it matches the rest of the decor perfectly omg)
— This pink pack of Chakra cards (I saw these on my friend’s coffee table & thought the box looked cute, so no chakra experience needed lol)
Marble coasters
— A vase with flowers

The concept of arranging the perfect coffee table setup doesn’t exist — I have been working on mine for a year and a half now, and some days I wake up and love it, some days I wake up and hate it. But I always always always have my eyes out for cute new pieces to add! So don’t be discouraged if you can’t figure it out just yet. Take your time. xo
