Trying On The Viral Abercrombie Skimming Tees

I have been seeing the new Abercrombie Skimming Tees with cute prints all over my TikTok, so naturally, I caved and impulse-bought two. But it’s for a good cause, right? Because I get to tell you my honest thoughts after trying them on and show you how I’d style them!
And if you use a little girl math, you could say I essentially got them for “free,” haha!
These skimming tees from Abercrombie have the most adorable embroidered and printed designs. The first top I saw go viral on TikTok had a cute embroidered croissant, which is unfortunately already sold out, so I ordered the Matchbox embroidered tee and the Aperol Spritz graphic tee instead!

Cocktail (Aperol Spritz) Graphic Skimming Tee
After trying on the Aperol Spritz Skimming Tee, my first impression was that the fabric was much thinner than I expected. I would say that most Abercrombie products are made with great fabrics; they usually feel thick, and like they’ll last. This one, however, not so much.
On top of that minor disappointment, it fits a little large. While these aren’t baby tees (even though I initially thought they were… my bad), I hoped the top would fit a little tighter than it did.
I ordered my usual size, a Small, and am considering sizing down one or two. I love it when shorter tops are fitted, but that’s a personal choice! If you like your tops less form-fitting, your regular size might be the best choice for you.
All in all, the thinner fabric combined with the looser fit made the top feel cheap. And $29.00 for a top is not cheap. So that doesn’t add up!
Matchbox Graphic Skimming Tee
The Matchbox Skimming Tee is a totally different story, though! How can two tops from the same store whose product titles are ultimately the same be so different? I’m unsure, but I’m definitely happy about it.
Straight off the bat, the Matchbox tee has a thicker fabric. You don’t see bra lines poking through as easily; overall, it feels as if it’s of much better quality. I also love that this graphic is embroidered instead of printed because it pops more.
The fit is also better on this one (ordered a Small as well) and more true to size. I could size down one more if I wanted it to be tight, but this top definitely is skimming, as the name implies.
Styling The Abercrombie Skimming Tee
Styling a basic white tee is one of my favorite things because it’s so simple! White tops go with almost everything! So you definitely already have items in your closet that will work for this.
I started off with a slightly tucked-in top and jeans.
I got a lot of questions about these jeans on TikTok after I wore them in a recent organizing video, and understandably so. They’re flattering (if I say so myself) and very comfortable! They’re the Aritzia Farrah High Rise Wide Leg Jean; I bought them before my trip to New York last fall and wore them almost every day.
To be honest, I would happily leave the house just like this! But for the sake of the post, here’s how I spice it up a bit more:
Today, I dressed the look up slightly by draping a sweater over the shoulders and matching the sweater’s color to my purse. Doing so quickly pulls together any outfit, and this trick hasn’t failed me yet! I wore the same sweater & purse combo to spice up this outfit, and it looked just as cute!
The sweater I’m wearing is the Princess Polly Ryanna Sweater in Beige, and it runs a little large, so I sized down one (wearing a size 2). The purse is a new favorite of mine: the Polene Numéro Dix Duo Taupe bag. Definitely a luxurious splurge, but oh so worth it!
To finish the look, I grabbed some white sneakers (I’ve been loving these from Walmart) and was all set!
